MailWasher Pro is an anti-spam POP email filtering program that uses a combination of techniques to detect and delete spam, financial and phishing scams, scripted exploits and viruses before they are downloaded to your desktop email client (Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc). I have been using this program for years and never download email without first using MailWasher Pro to remove spam and scams.
Spybot Search & Destroy, by Patrick M. Kolla; Superb, well maintained program that searches for and removes spyware, malware, foistware, hidden dialers, Trojan Horses, silences phone-home apps, and even cleans your History tracks and unwanted Cookies. Free and paid versions. The paid version includes an anti-virus component that provides real time protection.

When enough people complain to the ISPs that unwittingly host spammers accounts, the spammers often lose their accounts and even get charged "cleanup fees" by their Internet providers. In addition, reporting spam to SpamCop results in blacklisting the sites responsible for knowingly allowing it to be sent. Unfortunately, life is still too easy for the spammer. They sign up with new accounts as fast as we shut them down. By reporting spam, you can help to turn the tide. SpamCop makes this otherwise slow and technical task quick and easy. Domain Tools; Perform Whois lookups, IP lookups, Reverse IP, Registration and Name Servers, all useful in tracking down spammers and scammers. Also provides abuse-desk email addresses so you can report spammers to their ISPs and Web Hosts.
