Internet Explorer "Automatic Image Resizing"

The problem ("feature"):

If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or newer, when you open an image file to view it in a browser window it may open as a smaller version than expected. This is caused by a feature in the Internet Options called "Enable Automatic Image Resizing." If this feature is checked large images will open as smaller versions until you hover your pointer over the lower right corner of the image. When you do so a control button will appear under the pointer with arrows in the corners. Clicking anywhere on this button will enlarge the image, and clicking again will reduce the image.

The solution:

To disable this feature, with Internet Explorer 6 open, click on the Tools menu item (on the row just under the browser titlebar), then at the bottom of the dropdown list select "Internet Options," then in "Internet Options" select the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down to the "Multimedia" area and look for the checkbox labeled "Enable Automatic Image Resizing," and UNcheck it. Click on "Apply," then on "Ok" and refresh your browser. You will see the images in full size with scrollbars where needed, but without the annoying resize feature to deal with.

Using the image toolbar in Internet Explorer

The image toolbar makes it easy for you to save, print, or send in e-mail images that you find on the Web. The image toolbar appears when you point to an image on a Web page.
